Right Track

It’s just so good to get confirmation from the Universe that you’re on the right track.  One of those right tracks for me with CrystalsAndJewelry.com has always been to be honest with the folks who buy from me.  Apparently that’s a fairly weird business practice, especially for someone who sells online.  It’s always seemed like the only thing that would work, though, and certainly the only thing that seemed right. If I can’t trust what I say, and no one else can trust what I say, then I’m in a nasty pickle to say the least. So, no matter how it’s hurt sometimes — having to eat humble pie when I’ve screwed up a shipment or losing a sale because I mentioned a stone has a flaw — I do it.

And when I get something like this from a long-time customer,

“I have no idea if I already paid you…LOL Here’s a check. If I did, please just return it.”

I can just feel it all over that I’m on the right track.  Woo hoo!  Staying true to oneself really works. Imagine that.

Negative Thinking No-No?

I’ve been looking at new ways to think that take me where I want to go in life. And I keep finding some things that strike me funny. And occasionally illuminating. Like this…

I got a really nice email from a lady in response to my last email newsletter. One of the things she mentioned in the course of talking about the Law of Attraction really struck me.

“Negative thinking is a complete no-no!”

Hmmmms.

Isn’t that a pretty negative statement in and of itself? Is there a better way to look at negativity? I mean, most of us have negative thoughts at least occasionally. Is it always bad? What does negative do? What is negative really, anyway? I don’t advocate negative thinking. Don’t get me wrong there. But it seems to me, that like every cloud, it must have a silver lining of sorts. So I pondered on it and came up with some thoughts on the whole thing.

Maybe sitting and obsessing about eradicating negative thinking, as I’ve done a good bit of over the past year, isn’t any better than the negative thinking itself.

The Law of Attraction is mentioned in The Secret. It’s what the book is all about. And it’s a rock upon which many spiritualities stand, not to mention quantum physics, etc. Well, the Law of Atraction, as it’s summarized in The Secret, says, “The law of attraction says like attracts like, so when you think a thought, you are also attracting like thoughts to you.” and “Your thoughts become things.” It goes on to say, “The only reason why people do not have what they want is because they are thinking more about what they don’t want than what they do want.”

Hmmmms.

So if I’m sitting around thinking about how completely awful negative thinking is, just what is it I’m attracting to myself???

Doh.

Metaphysical Energies of Quartz from Various locations

Brazil Quartz CrystalsQuartz crystals that grow in a particular region will tend to have similarities in energies, just like they do in formation. Brazil and Arkansas quartz are often shorter, stubbier crystals. Chinese quartz is more often seen with long slender almost needle-like crystals. That’s just like people who grew up in the Southern US tend to have a particular accent, for instance. These similarities hardly mean that all quartz crystals from an area all have the same energy any more than all the people who grow up in the South look or act just alike. But our enviroment shapes us all — animal, vegetable, and mineral — to some extent, and that gives general similarities to crystals that grow in the same area.

I paid virtually no mind regional similarities of crystal energy for a long time. I saw each crystal so much as a distinct individual with distinct energies that I missed the broad sweeps of similarity in energy between quartz from various regions. It can be useful sometimes, though, to note, and use, in crystal healing or other energy work with quartz. even use in your energywork at times.

While I could babble on about quartz from various regions, and I might at a later time, here are some keywords and phrases for generalizations of my learnings and experience of their quartz crystal energies.

  • Africa - Directed, Primal
  • Arkansas - Potent, Robust, Consistent
  • Brazil - Powerful, Healing
  • China - Enigmatic, Bubbly
  • India - Soothing, Dreamy
  • Tibet - Meditative, Ethereal

These are general energetic tendencies of quartz from these regions, as I see them. Individual crystals may and do, of course, vary widely.

Q&A: Celestite and Celestine

CelestiteQUESTION: Are celestite and celestine the same thing?

MY ANSWER: Celestite and celestine are the same stone. The mineral actually has several names depending on what language the name is based on. You can see a lot of information about the mineral at http://www.mindat.org/min-927.html

Metaphysical and Healing Properties Lore on Celestite / Celestine can be found here.

NBC Apparently Thinks Killing Cats is Funny

Have you seen the premiere episode this season of “The Office” on NBC where Dwight kills his girlfriend’s cat? It’s apparently supposed to be funny.

“Angela asked Dwight, her boyfriend, to go to her house at lunch and give her sick cat Sprinkles her medicine because she couldn’t. Dwight took it upon himself to poison the cat with antihistimines until he thought Sprinkles was dead. Then he put Sprinkles in the freezer. We find out later that Sprinkles was NOT dead when Dwight put her in the freezer. She woke up inthe freezer, Angela said in a later scene she found her frozen foods shredded, and of course, died in the freezer.” From Mr. Hendrix blog

Michael Vick’s dog fighting was not funny. Shows that make light of killing cats is not funny either. Animal cruelty is not funny. Period.

I have started writing NBC and its advertisers insisting that they apologize and begin to support animal cruelty awareness.

Please join me in writing NBC and its advertisers in this important cause, and boycotting them if at all possible. Letters are more effective than emails, so please don’t hesitate to use a stamp for a letter for these folks. If you can’t afford a stamp for this, I’ll make sure you get one.

Don’t let anyone continue to think that killing cats, or any other animals, is funny.

11/19/07: I’ve closed the comments on this because people who find killing cats amusing to actually do (not on tv, but in person) keep commenting on it.  *sigh*   I’m tired of having to keep deleting spurious or vicious comments.

Crystal Fanatic Contest Results

Members of the House of the (Mostly) Black Cats Boni Maroni, Greebo the Squillion, Mini, and Pepi were judges for the Crystal Fanatic Contest. I wrote each contest entry name on a piece of paper and crumpled it, then presented all the crumpled entries to the cats. They chose winners by choosing their favorite crumpled entries.

Boni Maroni chose the first winning entry with Mini supervising.
