Cats and Candles Don’t Mix

PepiI had a small scented candle burning sitting right next to where I was working on some jewelry. It was late, and I often like to mess with new jewelry designs for fun and relaxation. No problem. No problem, that is, until my cat Pepi decided to jump up on the desk and landed right on the candle. Ack! I put his flaming fur out, with minimal damage to show for it; Only a bit of singed fur on him, and a jammed thumb plus a couple of tiny wax burns on me. No big deal, as it turned out. And a small price for a big lesson on cats and candles. I’ve had cats and candles together for 25 years and never had one get burned. But it can happen at any time. I’ll have to find some way to make it so Pepi can’t possibly land on, by or in a candle no matter how careless he or I might be. Until then, no burning candles. It could have been far, far worse. I’m so thankful it wasn’t.

Synergy of Crystal Energies

Many stones are combinations of two or more minerals. Virtually every stone with color is this way, like all the colored quartzes such a Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine. Many we know, like those, by their name as a colored stone, rather than “quartz with ______”. Whenever you have a combination of minerals, though, two things happen energetically.

One is that the stone has the properties of all of the mineral inclusions that combine to make it up. For example, all quartzes, regardless of color, also carry the properties of colorless quartz in some strength, plus the properties of any minerals that give it its color or type, such as rutilated quartz being quartz and rutile.

Synergy is the other thing that happens. This is where the combination of the stone energies complement each other and are more than just the sum of its parts. Often we do know a particular stone by its combined synergistic energies and very seldom look into the component mineral properties. Amethyst, for instance, is generally known as amethyst, with amethyst properties. We often use the synergistic properties mixed in and around the component mineral properties, seeing it as just the type of stones energies, which is fine because it takes all its energy into account.

It’s helpful when working with crystal energies to remember the synergy of the stones.
