I don’t get new photos of myself up very often. Frankly, I think crystals and stones and jewelry are more interesting to look at.

I happened to look up when I was photographing the last batch of stones and thought “oh this is funny” so I snapped a couple of photos of me and my camera in the mirror. The mirror is there to help distribute light from the photo lights. But it caught me, and Johnny Depp in the background. Johnny’s fun to look at though. Almost as fun as crystals. hehehe

That’s me, though, behind the camera. Hmmms. Can’t see my smile. Ah well, you can tell it’s there.  You can see my shipping stuff and whatnot too. How fun! hehehe

There’s a sweet kitty named Peppers who’s having serious health problems. Her people are willing to go the distance with her but don’t have the funds, which are likely to total around $4500 by the end of it all. If you can donate even just $2 to help out, that would be great. I had a small scented candle burning sitting right next to where I was working on some jewelry. It was late, and I often like to mess with new jewelry designs for fun and relaxation. No problem. No problem, that is, until my cat Pepi decided to jump up on the desk and landed right on the candle. Ack! I put his flaming fur out, with minimal damage to show for it; Only a bit of singed fur on him, and a jammed thumb plus a couple of tiny wax burns on me. No big deal, as it turned out. And a small price for a big lesson on cats and candles. I’ve had cats and candles together for 25 years and never had one get burned. But it can happen at any time. I’ll have to find some way to make it so Pepi can’t possibly land on, by or in a candle no matter how careless he or I might be. Until then, no burning candles. It could have been far, far worse. I’m so thankful it wasn’t.

You guys are something else! I got so many happy birthday wishes, it floored me.   I had the best intentions of thanking everyone personally, because I really appreciate it. But at this rate, I’ll still be sending thank yous next week.  Although that would be a lot of tun, I think maybe I’d better get on with making jewelry and stuff instead.  So please accept my thank you here. Thank you! All of you! It was really awesome to get all your birthday wishes and notes.

I’m a cat person. So I’ve been very concerned lately about all the pet food recalls. I’ve also been concerned that the recalls are made often weeks after problems are discovered. So I’ve been keeping track of breaking news on the pet food contamination issues. If you have a pet, I suggest you do the same. Daily the news grows more grim.  The best place I’ve found for up to date information is Itchmo. They have a blog, a pet food recall page, and an email list for breaking news related to pet food contamination. If you love your kitties or other pets like I do, please visit there or another daily resource, sign up for email notices, and stay aware.

I’ve donated some cool kitty-related charms to be auctioned off for a lady who rescues cats in Oregon. Jody, the cat rescuer, does more to help cats than I can even think of. Jody has a blog here, if you’d like to learn more. So if you like cats, check out the auction. I get nothing at all from it. ML, the lady who is having the auction gets nothing. Jody, the cat rescuer, keeps none of it for herself. So any moneys raised go to help out cats. My kitties approve!
